Flowers are often white with a yellow spot and streaked with purple but can vary. Natural habitat chalky pastures and moist grassland. A wild flower, medicinal herb dating back to the 14th century for 'all evils of the eye' once used for the treatment of sore eyes. Do not sow on slopes as it could be washed away with rain. Do not cut grass from spring until it sets.
