A Heirloom variety from the 1800s. Crookneck squash has curved, club shaped fruit growing up to 22cm long with golden-yellow skin and creamy texture with a nutty sweet flavour, that can be eaten raw with dips, steamed, grilled, or poached in broth and served with herb butters and seasonings. Early summer variety. 55 days.

Cucurbita pepomaxima Basic Sowing information: Sow indoors early spring onwards into blocks/pots or modules harden off before transplanting into final position. Sowing in situ sow 2 seeds per station after last frosts, thinning to the strongest one. Squash are best eaten at the immature stage such as a courgette, they should ideally be picked a few days after flower bloom, when the fruits are young and tender. Most popular as mini veg.
