White Sage flowers April to July. Not hardy. Leaves are used in cooking, smoked; seeds can be ground, mixed with cereals or soaked overnight and used as a drink. Excellent plant for attracting wildlife. Once used by the California Indians as a ceremonial herb.
Hardy down to approx - 5 deg C. Sow seed in the Spring. In areas where it will be subject to the lower limits of plant hardiness it is advisable to grow plants under glass for the first year and then plant out into final position protected from the elements after last frosts. Perennial
