Baby Salad Leaf Mixtures

Packets of mixed seeds suitable for young leaf production for stir fry or salads, cut and come again crop. Can be sown all year round in milder climates or raised in glasshouses or polytunnels in cooler areas for winter early spring crops. Sow every two weeks for a continual supply of tender young leaf.
Sow outdoors sprinkle seeds 1/2" apart in a 2-4" wide row covering lightly or broadcast sow at approx 10gram per square metre. Indoors broadcast in beds or flats.
Harvest after approx 3 weeks by clipping with scissors, most plants in the mix will regrow
Seed count is between 450 and 750 seeds/gram
Direct seeding rate approx 30g per 180' x 3" wide

Lettuce - Greenhouse 5 Star Mix        Baby Leaf      NEW Special blend of downy mildew resistant varieties for growing under glass or polytunnel. A beautiful mix of different leaf shapes and colours. This blend was selected after rigorous trials by the breeder. The varieties were selected for their ability to hold their colour (especially red leaf varieties) and resist downy mildew. Shungiku Greens 21 days baby leaf 45 days mature Aromatic Greens. Cut greens when about 4-8" tall for a flavourful addition to salads, vegetables, pickles, and sushi. Plant more thickly than other greens. Small orange and yellow chrysanthemum flowers appear later on un harvested plants. This is the preferred "fine" or "small" leaf strain. £1.25 Av 600 seeds

Tokyo Bekana 21 days baby leaf   45 days mature Recommended for thick sowing and harvest of deliciously sweet, tender-crispy, baby leaves that add a whole new dimension to salad mixes. Bright, light green leaves are curly and ruffled. Re grows for multiple cuttings. Excellent for baby leaf year-round with winter protection. Vitamin Green 21 days baby leaf   45 days mature A delicious leafy green vegetable, a member of the brassica family smooth leaves up to 30cm x 10cm are a deep green in colour. Tender leaves are full of flavour, harvest leaves when small for stir-fries, salads or steaming. Slow to bolt and continually provide new leaves over a long harvest period. Corn Salad   Coquille de louvier - Lambs Lettuce   Annual Valerianella locusta. Corn salad also known lambs lettuce, field salad or mache. Very slow growing. Leaves are used raw in salads and can be cropped all year from successional sowings and with some protection during winter in colder climates. Italian Dandelion Red Rib Chicorium Intybus Baby leaf 40 days Bright red stem and mid-vein with a dark green leaf. An eye catching dandelion type Chicory. A nice bitter flavour with a background sweetness. Sow spring onwards. £0.95 Av 500 seeds

Edible Leaf Carrot Daucus Carota var. sativa Edible carrot tops, something new to grow from seed for the salad bowl. An interesting, edible form of smooth leaf carrot. Celtuce Lactuca sativa angustana Stem lettuce, celery lettuce, wosun or Chinese lettuce is grown mainly for the leaves and stem, the leaves can be used raw or cooked, having a slightly sweet flavour and more coarse than lettuce. Young leaves can be used in mixed salads. Stems are harvested when they reach 3-4cm in diameter, used raw or cooked they are crisp and juicy like lettuce, celery, artichoke or chard, best peeled before used, harvest stems prior to the plant flowering. prefers summer shade and well drained humus rich soils. A good companion plant for carrots, onions and strawberries. Sow seed March to June in situ thin to 30cm apart, best picked frequently. Sow when temperatures are below 20C £0.69 Av 200 seeds

SAGE

English Sage is a good companion plant for cabbage and carrot.

Herb Sage   Perennial Evergreen Salvia officinalis Sage English has grey green slightly hairy leaf with strong flavour, used in stuffing's and many culinary forms. magical powers of sage include immortality, protection, longevity, wishes and wisdom. Sorrel

Sorrel Red Veined Rumex sanguineus var. sanguineus Bright green leaves contrast sharply with the red stems and the blood red veins.
