Leek
Allium porrum
Sow indoors winter, outdoors early spring on. Sow thinly 1.25 cm deep in
drills 30cm between rows. When seedlings are about 20cm high transplant using
dibber into prepared ground 15cm deep and 15-25cm apart dependant on variety.
Plant out 12 weeks after sowing. Harvest September to March dependant on
variety.

Leek Northern Lights An extremely winter hardy variety with leaves that change from blue-green to a deep purple during the winter months. Sow April, harvest from December to mid May.

Leek Stamford NEW. An early, high yielding Hybrid variety with very erect, dark blue green foliage. Good length white shafts, with good uniformity, good resistance to bulbing and rust.

Leek Tornado baby veg A very high yielding variety with long shanks and good cold tolerance. Erect, medium green foliage. Some rust resistance. Suitable for baby leeks.

A tropical Zone plant will not withstand temperatures below 10 degrees it is best grown indoors during colder months / all year round, in a conservatory, greenhouse or on the Kitchen windowsill, grow on the patio during the summer months. The cultural
information should be used as a guide only, I have found a number of different
sowing techniques for the same seed from different sources there does not seem
to be a standard. With this in mind you should use this website as a guide
only, you probably already have a tried and tested way of sowing different
seeds. As a rule of thumb the larger the seed size the more cover it requires,
and fine seed like Lobelia Begonia etc requires no cover.
