Sow seed in situ 7cm deep 23cm apart each way. Can be grown in double rows, allow minimum 60cm between rows. Keep the plants weed free and well watered. Prefer rich, fertile soil. Sow Broad Bean from October to November for Aquadulce, TheSutton, Grano Violetto, or February to April for Broad Beans and as late as May for Witkiem manita. Harvest from early June to September. Pinch out the tops (these may be cooked) after 5 flowers have formed this will help to deter black fly and encourage side shoots. Organic Sourced Organic Seed in our own packaging.

Seeds are coloured half white, half brown, a heirloom variety growing up to 2m high. Used as dried beans or pods harvested young and cooked whole like French beans, or shelled like broad beans.
Sow April under glass, outdoors sow May onwards when the ground has warmed up.
Early sowings in glasshouse or cold frame plant out late May.

The cultural information should be used as a guide only, I have found a number of different sowing techniques for the same seed from different sources there does not seem to be a standard. With this in mind you should use this website as a guide only, you probably already have a tried and tested way of sowing different seeds. As a rule of thumb the larger the seed size the more cover it requires, and fine seed like Lobelia Begonia etc requires no cover.
