Hardy Perennial Sow in cold frame. Sow in pots of seed compost cover and place in cold frame or shaded area. Germination is slow and erratic and usually occurs during late winter, they can take up to 18 months to germinate. Or sow indoors at 25°C for 6 weeks then 6 weeks in cold frame as cold as possible. Takes 5 months to develop into plant large enough to move into small pot. Keep cool to encourage flowering. Plant out when plants are large enough in dappled or partial shade during autumn or spring. |

The cultural information should be used as a guide only, I have found a number of different sowing techniques for the same seed from different sources there does not seem to be a standard. With this in mind you should use this website as a guide only, you probably already have a tried and tested way of sowing different seeds. As a rule of thumb the larger the seed size the more cover it requires, and fine seed like Lobelia Begonia etc requires no cover.
