Natural Garden Pest Control

Mighty Mite, Ladybird Larvae and Ladybird Adults are natural enemies of our garden pests, aphids etc and form the basis of the biological control programmes that are regularly used by growers to protect plants and crops from pests and associated diseases.
Biological control can replace the need for using chemical insecticides and is therefore favoured within organic food production. The form of biological control uses predators or parasites that prey on the garden pests.
Ladybirds are a predator and can consume up to 5,000 aphids during their lifespan. Other popular predators include hoverfly larvae, lacewing larvae and a number of predatory mite species.
Do not place your order until you see the garden pest present, these are live predators and must be applied upon receipt. Orders despatched within 10 working days on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Mighty Mite

Mighty Mite
An amazing predatory Phoretic mite species as a new, unique broad-spectrum biological pest control product for the home and garden environment.
This Phoretic mite is primarily a soil dwelling predator that has a voracious appetite and a rapid reproduction rate. It readily attacks and kills the larvae of Dipteran flies, which includes fungus gnats, sometimes known as sciarid flies, as well as eggs and young maggots of Syanthropic flies such as Housefly, Blowfly, Stable fly and Flesh flies. It also attacks and feeds on Vine weevil larvae, cutworms, woodlice, springtails and any unfortunate caterpillars that fall onto the soil.

MIGHTY MITE AS A COMPOST COMPANION
Releasing a pack of Mighty Mite onto a compost heap will provide them with an environment that they will thrive in. The warmth of a compost heap provides ideal conditions for the mites to reproduce in and the fly maggots that live in the rotting vegetation provide a food source for the mites. The mites will also feed on woodlice and springtails in the compost. By applying Might Mite in compost heaps the following benefits can be achieved:

When compost is moved around the garden, it will contain Might Mites that will protect plants and vegetables from soil dwelling pests
Mighty Mites in the compost heap will reduce levels of nuisance pests such as Housefly and Blowfly
Woodlice and spring tail numbers will be reduced
Fungus fly or fungus gnats will be reduced

Application:-
Simply shake the contents of the MIGHTY MITE tube over the compost heap surface when temperatures are above 10°C.

MIGHTY MITE FOR GREENHOUSE
Applying Mighty Mite to the pot or seed tray surface of newly sown seeds and transplanted seedlings will help protect from fungus gnat [sciarid fly] attack. The Phoretic mites rapidly find and kill the larvae of this common pest. The mites will also attack Thrip pupae and any small moth larvae that inhabit pots.

Application:-
Simply apply the contents of the MIGHTY MITE bottles evenly over seed tray or pot surfaces when temperatures are above 10°C.

MIGHTY MITE FOR VINE WEEVIL LARVAE CONTROL
Mighty mites will also feed on Vine weevil larvae in pots and containers. The small larvae are killed by the mites and the larger Vine weevil larvae have their feeding disrupted, this helps reduce the amount of damage caused by Vine weevil larvae. Mighty mites can be used in combination with Vine weevil control nematodes but need to be applied separately.

Application:-
Simply sprinkle the contents of MIGHTY MITE over the compost surface of containers or pots when temperatures are over 10°C.

MIGHTY MITE FOR HOBBY CHICKENS
Chicken manure is often infested with Lesser Housefly larvae. Poultry houses are frequently plagued by this pest and the adult flies often cause problems within nearby houses as they search for food. Might mites will feed on the fly larvae and reduce this problem.

Application:-
Simply sprinkle the contents of MIGHTY MITE over the floor of chicken coops evenly.

LADYBIRD LARVAE - APHID KILLER

LADYBIRD LARVAE - APHID KILLER
Ladybird larvae will eat more aphids than adult ladybirds. They are capable of eating 100-150 aphids per day and at this stage of their life cycle do not fly. This enables them to be targeted at pest populations indoors and outdoors. Ladybird larvae are most effective in warm, dry sunny conditions. They should not be introduced to plants when there is heavy rain, strong winds or frosts or cold conditions.

Application
Introduce the Ladybird larvae into the centre of the aphid infestation as soon as possible after receipt of the product
Apply the ladybird larvae to aphid colonies before the aphid population is very big
Repeat applications if there are large aphid populations
For taller or large plants, use the paper bags provided to hang the ladybird larvae on the plant. Pour the Ladybird larvae and contents into the bag and hang the bag near the aphid colonies

Rates of application:-
Roses & Flowering plants 3-5 larvae per flowering stem
Ornamental shrubs 1-2 larvae per aphid hot spot
Small fruit trees 3-5 larvae per stem or up to 10 larvae for heavy infestations of aphids
Larger fruit trees 10-20 larvae per tree
Tall trees 100 larvae per tree for 30cm diameter trunk and 300 larvae per tree for 100cm diameter trunk
Vegetable garden plants 2-5 larvae per plant

Aphid Killer Ladybird adults are supplied in units of 50 Ladybird larvae.

LADYBIRD ADULTS - APHID KILLER

LADYBIRD ADULTS - APHID KILLER
Ladybird adults are better suited for indoor release in greenhouses or conservatories.
The adults will feed on up to 50 different species of aphid. In optimal conditions, a female Ladybird adult can lay up to 1,500 eggs in her life time.

Application:-
Introduce Ladybird adults only when there are aphid present on plants
Avoid applying in sunny conditions near windows or vents. This can lead to migration of the adults out of the area to be treated
Introduce close to the aphid populations
Re-apply if aphids present in large numbers or add Ladybird larvae
Apply up to 10 adults per square metre in low-medium infestations
Apply up t0 50 adults per square metre in high infestations

Aphid Killer Ladybird Adults are supplied in units of 25.
