This natural habitat, made from chunky FSC Certified Timber and natural log is an ideal habitat for ladybirds and lacewings. Both of these insects are natural predators of garden pests like aphids and greenfly. Encouraging these insects will help reduce or eliminate chemical insecticide use in the garden.
To encourage these insects, the internal chamber can be filled through the viewing ports with straw (lacewings), or bark (ladybirds and other insects) to provide valuable, insulated overwintering space and summer retreat.

Siting: Position the box near an aphid problem area, in a sheltered position. Wildlife World ladybird or lacewing attractant can be used dependent upon desired insect.

Ladybird or Insect Tower with pole
A natural habitat for ladybirds and other beneficial insects. Constructed from solid FSC birch logs and oak, larch, or similar timber for durability, the Ladybird Tower has a hollow central chamber filled with natural material to provide insulation and security. Intersecting the chamber are many holes drilled into the log at an upward angle, which allow the insects to reach the insulated and safe inner chamber. Ladybird Food/Attractant can be used with the tower if necessary and/or the tower may be used to release larvae with food source.   Constructed from durable FSC Timber, the Solar Insect Theatre features unique solar lighting with its own storage batteries that automatically light up at dusk attracting Moths, Lacewings, Butterflies and other interesting flying insects into the Theatre. The light then automatically turns off at dawn to reveal the insects inside. Plant material or sturdy branches can be introduced into the Theatre through the access door at the side which can also be used to remove insects to study. The lower shelf has several Solitary Bee nesting holes as added habitat (not shown in this photograph).   This new small double chambered bug box insect habitat (top varying size canes - bottom solid bored timber) is ideal for hanging in a sheltered garden or house wall or orchard. This is a general insect habitat. The holes may be used by solitary bees such as Mason Bees or Leafcutter Bees, which are non aggressive and excellent for pollinating in the garden, helping to increase fruit yields. The durable roof and solid timber construction give excellent insulation for over wintering Ladybirds and Lacewings.
