Araucaria araucana       Bonsai & Trees Rarely seen in the UK, Young tree found growing in the wild. The well known Monkey Puzzle Tree. The distinctive well known hardy evergreen tree originating from Chile, it will withstand exposed situations.
Origin: Fertile seed from the UK.
Sow point first in 5-9cm pot 2/3 to 3/4 of the seed inserted into the compost Or place seed in a zip lock bag large enough to hold 5 x the amount of seeds, add damp vermiculite, seal and place in warmth. Open bag twice weekly to allow ingress of air.

The cultural information should be used as a guide only, I have found a number of different sowing techniques for the same seed from different sources there does not seem to be a standard. With this in mind you should use this website as a guide only, you probably already have a tried and tested way of sowing different seeds. As a rule of thumb the larger the seed size the more cover it requires, and fine seed like Lobelia Begonia etc requires no cover.
