Flori’s
Report

On
Tuesday the Primary 7 gardeners went outside to fix the garden after the
terrible, cold winter.
We
were taking out all the dead plants and tidying up everything. We put all the dead plants into the compost
bin and got the beds all neat and tidy for all the new plants and flowers in
the spring. Also we left all the plants
in that were still growing so we would have something in our garden.
Hannah’s
Report

Over the last few weeks I have really enjoyed being in the garden
club even if I am not an official member of it! For example being able to join in on the art
stuff and how can I forget making way for the new plants. I can’t wait to do more with the garden club!
Fara’s
Report.
This
term the Garden Club are responsible for collecting the recycling bins in the
school every Thursday after playtime. We
get together and each one of us from the gardening club get
the recycling bin from the classroom.
The recycling bins had paper, card and plastic bottles in them. We put the stuff from the bins into big blue
bins at the front of the school.

Flori
and Claire’s treasurers’ Report
Me and Claire are the treasurers and our first task was to
count all the money that we have made over the year by selling items that we
made. Then we had to put all the
information onto the laptop so we can keep a record of our savings. Also next time Heather is going to show us
how to put our savings into the bank, so we are looking forward to doing that!

Sannah’s
Report
As
you know the Gardening Club has been very busy despite the cold weather but now
they are back for a fresh start.
They
have been selling Christmas decorations such as pine cones, cinnamon sticks and
calendars. They sold these at assemblies
and were very pleased about how much they got for garden club funds. They made
£45.64. Thank you for your help and support!!!
We
also sold paper mache bowls to put the decorations in
which were very popular, read how to make them in Thomas’s report.

Thomas’s
Report
1. First get a bowl, plastic is best.
2. Then use Vaseline around the outside of the
bowl.
3. After that use little strips of newspaper and
stick them on the bowl with wallpaper paste.
4. Finally when the bowl is dry ease it off and
you’ll have your own paper mache bowl!!
5. Then you can decorate it with coloured paper
or material and varnish.
Sonny’s Report.
The eco-committee held their
first meeting of 2011 last week.
In this meeting we discussed new
members. There is a form on the school website for anyone wanting to join the
committee from p4,p5a and p6.
We also talked about Fairtrade fortnight which begins on 28th February and ends
on the 13th March.
Next on the agenda was the new
recycling rota. The gardening club are now taking out recycling bins every
Thursday after morning interval at 10.45.
