Christmas Newsletter
Autumn 2010 | November 2010 | December 2010 | January 2011 | April 2011 | Summer 2011 | Autumn 2011

Congratulations
to Florrie and Claire who are the new Garden Club
treasurers. They are taking over from
Holly, who was the chief treasurer and Talitha
her assistant.
They
did a great job for the last two years but have now gone to secondary school.
We
are trying to raise enough money to hire a bus to take us to Edinburgh for two days in June to take part in
Gardening Scotland 2011.
We
have already been busy making Christmas decorations to sell at school as you
can read in these reports.

Ajjima’s
report.

I
enjoyed making Christmas decorations because it was fun and I liked all the
colours that were there. Next year I am
looking forward to planting seeds and harvesting.

Eli’s
report.
I
enjoyed painting the Christmas decorations because I love to paint. I am looking forward to doing more things
like this next year.

Meryem’s
report
I
enjoyed cutting out different shapes to make Christmas decorations and then
painting them. I am looking forward to
seeing the bulbs flowering in spring and to finish building a bird house.

Flori’s
report.
I
liked making the Christmas tree hanging decorations and the Christmas
bowls. It was fun to do arty things and
it’s good because we make money out of it so maybe we can do the gardening competition.
I
am looking forward to the gardening competition because it is good to show
people what we can do and it will be great fun!
Morrison’s
vouchers.
We
now have enough Morrisons’ vouchers to get a raised
timber bed, a wheelbarrow, an apple tree and a fork to dig the garden. A huge thank you to
everyone that helped us to collect the vouchers.
RHS
Gardening for Schools- Level 5.
We
have now reached Level 5 of the RHS Gardening for Schools benchmark
scheme. This is the top level that
schools can reach. Someone from the RHS
will come out to our school in the spring and present us with a plaque. You can read about our achievement on the RHS
School Gardening website http://apps.rhs.org.uk/schoolgardening/article.aspa?PageId=991
School
Sensory Challenge.
We
are going to take part in a competition to design a sensory garden for our
school playground. The winning design
will be made into a garden at the school.
We thought it would be nice to design a garden that could be made in our
new timber raised bed from Morissons.

Tayyabba’s report
In Garden Club I enjoyed making cakes and
selling them to people at the parents evening.
I like to do baking and to do new things.
In 2011 I am looking forward to planting seeds
and seeing the beautiful plants.

Ahmed’s report.
I liked making Christmas decorations because I
have never done it before.
I am looking forward to going to Edinburgh
because I have never been to a flower show.

Claire’s report.
I liked making cakes in the staffroom to sell
at Parent’s evening and Christmas decorations for the fair and Christmas
tree. I thought it was fun taking
Hannah’s artistic experience and doing something to help the school (raising
money). It was also good to do something
inside while the garden was covered in snow and frost.
I am looking forward to planting things in the
spring and tending to them as they grow.
I am also really looking forward to Gardening Scotland 2011.

Garnetbank Garden Club would like to wish everyone A Merry Christmas and
all the best for 2011.
