Biennial grown as an annual, plants used small as baby veg or cut and come again for salads stir fry etc. Green stemmed varieties can withstand adverse conditions more than white stemmed forms. Leaves are used raw or cooked from any stage from seedling to mature plant, flavour is sweet with a hint of mustard. Young flowering stems can be used like broccoli. Position in full sun in moist fertile soil. Some protection is required for winter harvesting. Sow in situ May onwards thinly 1cm deep and 20-40cm between rows. Keep weeded and well watered.

Under glass nearly all the Oriental vegetables can be sown throughout most of the year, outdoors during the main growing season. All packets are supplied with germination instructions.
